We will travel mainly on forest roads but we will find some trickier bits if that's what people want to do. Expect to light a fire at lunchtime and boil the billy. Come along and have a family day a week before Mothers Day! There are lookouts to see, w
The Pyrenees State Forest is located 220kms north west of Melbourne, west of Avoca. Rugged mountain ranges with spectacular views, the Pyrenees are fine examples of natural and cultural history. European settlement began in the 1840s. Most of the Pyrenees was prospected and mined after gold was discovered in October 1854.
g'day Members...
Geoff visited us at the club stand at Wandin. He's an ex club member and has some Rangie bits for sale - see piccs at the bottom. Please contact Geoff direct if you arre interested.
There was a time, long, long ago, when cattlemen would roam around the Mt Buller area around about the end of April and early May to retrieve their cattle before the first winter snows. Alas, the romance of all that has gone, but we can still travel through that country to see some of the more historic areas.
We shall have a look at the new Craig’s Hut (OK, so that is not very historic!), go to Cobbler Lake and the Falls, to Lovick’s Hut, Bluff Hut and Bindaree Hut. Start and finish are at Mansfield.
The Range Rover Restoration project needs some genuine tools to fill in the gaps in the project cars toolkit. The diagram (click for larger) from the original manual shows what should be there - if you have any of those tools at home that you can donate to the project, please let us know.
After a very successful “unveiling” at Wandin, work proper on Range Rover Restoration kicks off this weekend. This first session will involve a good wash and cleanup so we can properly see the extent of work needed. If you have some time available on Saturday 27th, come and be part of what promises to be a fun and useful project.
No, not a quiet Sunday in front of the telly after too much fun the night before! Instead, a practical day in the forest for Trip Leaders and future Trip Leaders to review and practice safe vehicle recovery techniques under the watchful eye of some experienced Trip Leaders and Trainers.
Four Wheel Drive Victoria is assisting, on our behalf, with rebuilding the King River Hut near Mansfield. The first part of the project is procuring the materials needed, and FWDV is seeking some help with this. Maybe you or your business can assist?
The Materials List (attached at the bottom) includes new and second-hand building materials. If you can assist with providing any of these materials, on any basis ranging from donation to commercial, please
The Range Rover Restoration kicks off this weekend. The first phase will be to wash and dismantle the car, so the extent of the work needed can be assessed. If you have some time available on Saturday or Sunday come and be part of what promises to be a fun and useful project.
The Toyota Landcruiser Club has invited us to compete in Cruiserkhana 2010 at their property in Yarck. And yes, the Range Rover Club is up to the challenge!
CruiserKhana is a skill based event, for novices as well as more experienced 4WD’ers in the Standard and Touring categories, as well as spectators.
CruiserKhana 2010 will be held 17 - 18 April 2010 and will make a great weekend trip for Club members. Saturday is the main competition day, with additional optional events on Sunday.
An Australia Day weekend on the coast with some spectacular 4WDing in the Errinundra...
This is a basecamp trip at Cape Conran. We will plan to do one long day trip into the Errinundra Forest area (probably Sunday) and one shorter day trip into Croajingolong National Park. Cape Conran/Marlo area is a coastal region offering lots of outdoor activities. If you wish to do more day trips then other options are available. If you want to do less and spend more time with water sports then that is an option as well.
Trips are the lifeblood of the Range Rover Club. At this workshop we want to bring together Trip Leaders, potential Trip Leaders or TECs, our Driver Trainers and anyone else who is interested, to look at the Calendar and plan some trips. We’d like to do this a few times each year in the future and at this workshop we’ll focus on the first five months of 2010.
The RRCV's annual Labour Day weekend in Dargo is on again in 2010. It's a wonderful weekend that offers something for everyone...
Over the last 16 years member clubs of the Four Wheel Drive Victoria (including RRCV) have supported Oxfam Australia in their annual delivery of Christmas Trees. This has become a very successful fund raising activity selling and delivering fresh green Christmas trees to homes in metropolitan Melbourne.
Come and enjoy a most pleasant day where you can relax by the pool with other RRCV members. Father Christmas will be visiting the kids too.
Bob and Diany Wilson have kindly offered to host this event again this year.
The Barbeque is available as is the swimming pool. BYO lunch, drinks and chairs.
Wombat Forest is a popular 4WD area, combining a beautiful forest with some really good roads. Navex is planned to be held there sometime in early 2010 so we are going to spend a day checking out roads and maps to help us in planning.

Cup Weekend heralds the opening of the mountain tracks after the winter closure. This is the now familiar bookend to the Butcher Country trip run on the Queen’s Birthday Weekend in June. Both adventures start at Licola but take quite different routes through the high country.
RRCV members need to do a 5 minute survey about your vehicle's modifications. The survey has been set up by FWDV and will collect data to support the activities of a Working Group looking at vehicle modifications and possible Government Legislation. This is important work - please read Michael Coldham's explanation below, then follow the link to complete the survey.
The RRCV will have a stand at Lesiurefest this year as part of the "4x4 and Accessories" area, with Four Wheel Drive Victoria area with other affiliated clubs. The show was excellent last year and is expanding to have a larger 4x4 area. This as an important promotion and membership initiative for the club and we are seeking support from members to help with the club stand over the four days.
John and Prue Hasler are the Regional Representatives for Four Wheel Drive Victoria for East Gippsland, east of the Snowy River. The Parks Victoria Ranger in the Bendoc area contacted them in 2007 offering to take us and a group of 4WD Club members on a trip into this area. The trip was successful and was repeated in 2008. They will be doing it again this year on the weekend of 24 and 25th of October. John and Prue invite you to participate...

2009 is the 30th Anniversary of the RRCV's first French Line crossing of the Simpson Desert. Michael Richmond is eminently qualified to run a trip to celebrate... he was after all, on that first trip. Yes, he was a bit younger and he let Dad do most of the driving - but he was there nonetheless!

The Range Rover Club of Victoria have taken on the challenge to host the 40th Anniversary of this wonderful marque. Clubs from around Australia will be invited. It is anticipated that a number of trips will be run from major cities in Australia ending in Melbourne for the big event.
