Bush Mechanics' workshop
Date and time: 9:00am, Saturday 19th October to 4:00pm Sunday 20th October
Description: A Bush Mechanics' workshop will be run over two days at Jim Kennedy's workshop at the Black Spur Inn and it is a must for long distance travel. Why not make it a social weekend and stay at the Black Spur Inn on the Saturday night. To book accommodation, please call (03) 5963 7121. Camping at the back of the Black Spur Inn is also available.
Mechanical breakdown is part of 4 Wheel Driving! A broken spring and a busted shock absorber during a Simpson trip, a snapped trailing arm in a Hilux (albeit the car belongs to another club convoy) on a Butcher Country trip, a leaking radiator, ran out of spare tyres, broken CV joints and the list goes on.......
Do you have a get out of jail card? Do you know what to do to get you back to civilization? If you want to know more about these things, this is the weekend for you!
This weekend is an extension of the very successful basic mechanic weekend course that Jim already runs. There will be theory and practical demonstration on a variety of minor and major bush repairs which may include:
- What tools to carry on a short and extended trip?
- What spare parts to carry a short and extended trip?
- Minor Bush repairs such as tyre repairs and leaks e.g. from radiators, cooling systems, fuel tanks, axles, hoses,
- Water in engine
- Busted shockers
- Dead electrics
- Busted windscreens
- Damaged exhaust
- Major bush repairs and “get out of jail card”
Duration: 2 days
