Date and time:  9.00am Saturday 2 November to 1.00pm Tuesday 5 November 2024

Description:   New Members & Families Welcome

Starting in Ouyen we will explore the Murray-Sunset National Park, travelling along the small sandhills and claypans of Pheeneys Track to our bush camp. The Victorian – South Australian Border is our next destination and the Border Track will be followed for some distance before we head East along the Sunset and Honeymoon Hut track to the Pink Lakes National Park where we will camp for the night. Our next destination is the Hattah-Kulkyne National Park and we plan to camp at the Parks Victoria Lake Mournpall campground (PLEASE BOOK for Monday 4th November as soon as possible  https://bookings.parks.vic.gov.au/book ) on the Monday night. We will be exploring the Hattah-Kulkyne National Park before heading back to Ouyen and departing for home on the Tuesday.

Please bring all your camping, cooking equipment, food and water supplies with you for the 4 days.

Morning Tea and Lunches will be in the bush each day so please bring quick and easy to prepare food, snacks and drinks.

No pets please as we will be travelling in National Parks. No trailers.

Accommodation: We will be bush camping in designated National Parks campsites with drop toilets available.  Please note:  you are required to book your camp site for Monday 4 November at Lake Mournpall campground  https://bookings.parks.vic.gov.au/book as soon as possible.

Weather:   Review the weather forecast for Ouyen leading up to the trip and bring appropriate clothing, footwear and gear including for sandy conditions. Nights will be potentially cold but the days will hopefully be warm or even hot.

Equipment:  Below are the recommended vehicle requirements.  If you are not sure if your vehicle is suitable for a trip, please have a chat with the trip leader.

Low range, Snatch strap and 2 rated shackles, Rated recovery points, 5 watt UHF radio, All Terrain tyres. Clothing and boots suitable for walking in the bush in warm, wet and cold conditions, Maxtrax if you have them, First aid kit, Camera. Sand Flag if you have one.

Trip Standard:  Medium. The sand tracks are usually straight forward, but there are a few sand dunes and deeper sand patches that require extra skill to navigate. If there has been heavy rain the boggy areas can take extra care to navigate. Please familiarise yourself with sand driving options for your vehicle.

Fuel:  fuel available in Ouyen. Require range of 510kms.

Distance:  Melbourne to Ouyen 450kms, Ouyen to Ouyen 510kms, Ouyen to Melbourne 450kms

Duration:  4 days

Convoy limit:  10 vehicles

Passengers & non-member participation: If you wish to bring a passenger that is not a partner or your child, visit they must register as Temporary Members to join in. See our website for details.  Temporary (Guest) Membership

Temporary Members are NOT allowed to drive without speaking to the Trip Leader first. This is to ensure that the driver and vehicle are sufficiently prepared for the trip.

Club Guest Registration policy: It is club policy in regard to insurance cover that if a member brings any non-members on the trip they must be registered and have paid the required fee as Temporary Members BEFORE the event. i.e. non-members can no longer register on the day with the trip leader.

Also if a non-member wishes to bring their own vehicle, the member inviting the non-member must contact the trip leader for approval to bring the vehicle. Such approval will take into account skills of the driver, suitability of the vehicle and whether or not a place within the convoy limit is available for a non-member's vehicle.
