Lerderderg State Park-Wombat State Forest

New Date and time:  Saturday 20th March 2021, 9:00am – 4.00pm

Location: Lerderderg State Park and Wombat State Forest

Description:      We will be exploring tracks along the eastern parts of Lerderderg State Park and central parts of Wombat State Forest; starting and finishing in Bacchus Marsh.

We plan to start the day with an easy drive up Seereys track and onto Holtz Road before we take the challenging climb up Nuggetty track (rated Difficult). Nuggetty track is steep and difficult at the beginning and close to the end of track there is a challenging step-up to negotiate.

Throughout the day we will travel on several other tracks, some of which I have done and others we will be exploring.

Before our return to Bacchus Marsh we will head back to Ratcliffe and Nuggetty tracks to experience them in the opposite direction.

The exact route will be subject to track and weather conditions. If very wet or there has been a lot of rain in the preceding days then some of the tracks will become very slippery and may become impassable, this may necessitate taking alternative routes or forest roads.

Weather: At this stage the weather is forecasted for some rain on Saturday so bring appropriate clothing, food and water.

Drivers must have completed the RRCV club training. Vehicles must be UHF radio equipped (or one borrowed from the club).  Standard recovery gear including dampener, rated snatch strap and shackles, shovel must be carried.

No camper trailers, pets, or firearms

Trip Standard:   Medium / Hard. Most of the tracks are rated medium but Nuggetty and Anderson Mill tracks are rated difficult. Expect steep challenging sections, ruts (may be deep in some sections) and bog holes after rain.
