Wombat State Forest and Lerderderg State Park

Description: Exploring tracks within the Lerderderg State Park & Wombat State Forest. We will meet in Gisborne and travel south along the Bacchus Marsh- Gisborne Road to Carrolls Lane where we will commence our low range driving, commencing on Ractliffe Track and following various tracks through the forests to Blackwood. . Some of the tracks will have steep sections, some will have rocky surfaces, some will have rutting with bogholes and some will have creeks to cross, others will be on forest roads. The tracks however will give an opportunity for recently trained members to test and develop their four wheel drive driving skills and to give everyone some challenging and fun driving.
Weather: Bring appropriate clothing and footwear to the weather on the day and if warm, bring plenty of water.
Equipment: Vehicles are to have low range 4WD capability, good ground clearance (minimum 200mm recommended) , good all-terrain tyres (minimum 60 profile recommended) . Vehicles must be UHF radio equipped, either built in or handheld. Standard recovery gear is to be carried comprising a dampener, a rated snatch strap, shackles and a shovel, .Drivers must have completed the RRCV Driver Training Course.
Trip Standard: Medium with some hard sections due rutting of track.
Fuel: Full tank out of Melbourne - fuel is available in Gisborne if required.
Duration: 1 day
Convoy limit: 8 vehicles
Meeting arrangements: Meet at The Jolly Miller Café, 29a Brantome Street, Gisborne ready for a 9am briefing and departure straight after. Please bring completed personal details forms in (a) named sealed envelope (s) for all participants. We aim to finish around 4pm at Blackwoof.
Covid 19: As club policy, all participants are required to be double dosed vaccinated with formal verification given to the trip leader prior to the trip. Covid safe practices are to be followed
