Robert Pepper Cathedral Range & Rubicon Tour

Date and time:  9:00am - 4.00 pm Saturday 30 April 2022

Description:  This trek provides a gentle meander through areas of mountain forest and state park as it runs north from Marysville to Thornton. Along the route is ample evidence of the regions gold-mining and logging history, whilst towards the end of the trek is the Rubicon Historic Area, the site of the state's first hydro-electric power scheme which commenced operation in 1929.

There are toilets at the campgrounds at Cooks Mill, Neds Gully and Kendalls along the route.

The exact route will be subject to track and weather conditions.

Weather:  Weather can be unpredictable so bring appropriate clothing and footwear for all conditions.  

Equipment:  A well maintained 4WD vehicle with good all-terrain tyres is recommended. The route follows dirt and gravel roads which are generally well-maintained but which could become slippery if wet. There are a couple of small creek crossings.

Trip Standard:  Easy to Medium (Green-Blue).

Fuel:  A full tank out of Marysville

Distance:  The total estimated route distance is approximately 79 km

Duration: 1 day

Convoy limit: 10 vehicles 

Meeting arrangements:  

We will meet at the Marysville Bakery for a briefing and in good time to depart at 9am on Saturday morning.
