Description: New Members & Families Welcome
Commencing on the Friday of the Grand Final long weekend, we will explore the Grampians concentrating on the abundant wildflowers, historical features at Heatherlie Quarry and lookouts. With a number of short walks to be led by John, a keen amateur naturalist, there is much to see and photograph. We will travel on bitumen and forest tracks and be able to enjoy the wonderful scenery the Grampians has to offer with the many stops planned. There will be a generous amount of time allowed for photography and discovering flowers.
Please arrange your own accommodation in Halls Gap each night ready for a 9.00am start on the Saturday and Sunday. We are staying at the NRMA Halls Gap Caravan Park and recommend you make your booking of your own choice as soon as you register for the trip.
We will have morning teas and picnic lunches in the bush each day so please bring your food and water supplies with you.
No pets due to travelling in the Grampians National Park.
Weather: Spring in Victoria, expect anything, potentially cold and wet. Review the weather forecast leading up to the trip and bring appropriate clothing, footwear and bushwalking clothes.
Equipment: Below are the recommended vehicle requirements. If you are not sure if you vehicle is suitable for a trip, please have a chat with the trip leader.
Low range, Snatch strap and 2 rated shackles, Rated recovery points, 5 watt UHF radio, Highway tyres are ok. Clothing and boots suitable for walking in the bush in wet and cold conditions, Maxtrax if you have them, First aid kit, Camera, Your own flower and bird guides if you have them (we will bring some).
Trailers are OK, but not on the daily drives

Temporary Members are NOT allowed to drive without speaking to the Trip Leader first. This is to ensure that the driver and vehicle are sufficiently prepared for the trip.
