Date and time: 9:00am, Sunday 17 July to 4:00pm Sunday 17 July 2022
Description: Please contact your trip leader if you are unsure of any of the following requirements for this trip.
This is an Easy day trip open to anyone, but I would particularly encourage families and those with RR Classics (or similar) who don’t mind splashing through a few puddles here and there. I will be planning on taking my Series 3 Land Rover so it would be nice to have a couple of other old vehicles come along.
Starting at the Black Spur Inn, Narbethong, we will spend the day exploring some of the scenic and historic tracks in the Warburton and Gembrook areas. These tracks are all rated as Easy, so don’t worry if you have not tried out the fancy traction control system in your car or you haven’t yet done driver training. The emphasis is on sharing the day with some other club members, providing something interesting for the kids and getting your 4WD out and about.
If you have some recovery gear already, then feel free to bring it, but don’t race out and buy items just for this trip. You will, however, need at least a handheld UHF radio for convoy communications, although a car installed radio is better. Bring water for the day and food for a brief morning tea and longer lunch stop (usually an hour).
Weather: It is Winter, so it will be cold and maybe even wet. Other weather conditions are changeable as we are near areas which receive snow. The trip route will be adjusted, depending on conditions.
Equipment: below are the recommended vehicle requirements. If you are not sure if you vehicle is suitable for a trip, please have a chat with the trip leader.
A well-maintained vehicle with normal road tyres is OK for this trip (All Terrain tyres would be preferred), UHF radio (or one borrowed from the club). Recovery gear is not mandatory, but if you have it, bring your standard recovery gear including, rated snatch strap, shackles and a shovel.
Additional Equipment required: Please wear clothing and boots appropriate for short walks in the bush. It is Winter and weather is changeable, so bring cold and wet weather clothing (BYO thermos!).
No camper trailers, pets or firearms
Trip Standard: Easy – Mainly gravel forestry roads.
Fuel: a full tank ex Narbethong
Distance: Approx. distance from Narbethong is 130km of mainly high range driving.
