Warburton Surrounds Midweek Wednesday Escape
Date and time: 9:00am – 4pm, Wednesday 30 Aug 2023
Description: A social day trip in the Yarra Ranges east of the Warburton – Reefton road, on mainly gravel surfaces, stopping off at points of interest. BYO lunch will be at one of the reserves with drop toilets.

Weather: Around 15 degees with the possibility of a light sprinkling of rain after several days of forecast bright sunshine. Tracks not suited to winter access are seasonally closed.
Equipment: Below are the recommended vehicle requirements. If you are not sure if you vehicle is suitable for a trip, please have a chat with the trip leader.
A well-maintained 4WD vehicle with normal road tyres is OK for this trip, although All Terrain tyres would be preferable. UHF radio (or one borrowed from the club). Recovery gear is not mandatory, but if you have it, bring your standard recovery gear including rated snatch strap, shackles and a shovel.
Trip Standard: Easy. A combination of gravel forestry roads and some easy tracks. Depending on its condition, one short, steepish track ascent will be considered (low range gearing).
Fuel: A full tank ex Melbourne
Distance: Distance from Mount Evelyn to Warburton via Wandin/Woori Yallock/Yarra Junction is 33 km on bitumen (35 mins). The recent detour blocking direct access near Warburton no longer applies as the roadside washaway has been repaired. For exploration beyond and back to Warburton expect around 60km.
Duration: One day
Convoy limit: 10 vehicles
Meeting arrangements: We plan to meet at 9.00 am sharp in the main street of Warburton opposite the Police Station for the trip briefing; arrive earlier if you wish to grab a coffee! Departure strictly by 9.30am.We will aim to finish by about 3.45pm back in Warburton for a group debriefing before heading home.
