Yarra State Forest 4WD Tracks

Date and time:  9:00 AM to 4.00 PM Sunday 24th November 2024

Trip Standard: Medium – some steep hills requiring low-range and some rocky and rutted sections as well.

Description:  Please contact your trip leader if you are unsure of any of the following   requirements for this trip.

This trip was first run on Wednesday 8 May.  It ran in a clockwise, broadly circular direction. The starting and finishing points were on Starvation Creek Road, not far from the Warburton-Woods Point Road.  The emphasis was on tracks which had reopened after seasonal closure.  Very little time was spent on bitumen or graded gravel roads.  The scenery was stunning and varied.

This trip takes up the suggestion that the trip be repeated, but in an anticlockwise direction.  This change in terrain perspective would not only be visual, but also tip the incline/decline balance in favour of ascents.

Weather:  In the week before the trip the route will be inspected and the weather monitored to determine what if any modifications need to be made.

Equipment:  Below are the recommended vehicle requirements.  If you are not sure if your vehicle is suitable for the trip, please have a chat with the trip leader.

Good off-road tyres (All Terrain, 60 profile recommended as a minimum), UHF radio (or one borrowed from the club), a well-maintained vehicle with low range (or equivalent), good ground clearance (200mm recommended as a minimum), recovery points, standard recovery gear including dampener, rated snatch strap and shackles, shovel.  Drivers must have completed the RRCV club training or equivalent.
