Border Track, etc

Date and time:  8:00am, Friday 25th April to Sunday 27th 

Trip Standard:  The Border Track is an easy sand drive well within the capability of any low-range 4x4.  For the Saturday the tracks will again be within the capability of a stock vehicle. 

Description:   Border Track run on Friday, then something around the desert or Grampians area Saturday, home Sunday 

Weather:  Doesn’t matter, going anyway.  Keep an eye on the weather forecast for the Wimmera area. 

Equipment:  Stock vehicles welcome but all-terrains preferred. UHF 80-channel radio.  Recovery gear: minimum shovel & recovery strap/rope. Ideally traction ramps x4. Sand flag if you want a turn at the front.

Additional Equipment required:  Need to be self-sufficient food & water for the duration.  Camping gear food and drinking water for 2.5 days / 2 nights in the bush.  Morning tea and lunches will be in the bush each day – byo simple, “on the move” lunches and morning teas (byo thermos).

No pets or firearms

Maps and Reference Material:  Meridian Vic Deserts.

Fuel:  A full tank ex Murrayville

Distance:  250km for the Border Track return. 

Duration: 2.5 days 

Convoy limit:  4 vehicles 

Meeting arrangements:  Friday: start at Broken Bucket campsite at 0800 and you'll need fuel for the day. 

We will be leaving our caravan there for the day after driving up late Thursday night.

Return to Broken Bucket after the Border Track. Saturday: plan that Friday night.  Maybe do Milmed in the Wyperfeld

Club Guest Registration policy:  It is club policy in regard to insurance cover that if a member brings any non-members on the trip they must be registered and have paid the required fee as Temporary Members BEFORE the event. 

i.e.  non- members can no longer register on the day with the trip leader.

Also if a non-member wishes to bring their own vehicle, the member inviting the non-member must contact the trip leader for approval to bring the vehicle. Such approval will take into account skills of the driver, suitability of the vehicle and whether or not a place within the convoy limit is available for a non-member's vehicle.
