Trip description: This is a short easy trek, starting in the historic timber town of Powelltown and passing through forests dominated by towering mountain ash, messmate, grey gum and myrtle beech to reach the Kurth Kiln Regional Park. There will be plenty of time to explore the natural and historic features that this region offers. This includes the opportunity to see the historic Kurth Kiln and enjoy some short pleasant walks at Seven Acre Rock and Shiprock Falls. The trip finishes in Gembrook. This is a dog friendly trip - dogs on leads are welcome in all places visited.

Meeting arrangements: Meet at Powelltown picnic ground at 9am

Weather: The tracks should be drivable regardless of weather.

Distance: 38.3km

Fuel: Available Yarra Junction and Gembrook

Convoy limit: 8

Trip Standard: Easy – little or no Four Wheel Driving experience required. Road tyres are acceptable. Front and rear recovery points at Trip Leader’s discretion. Expected track classification to be encountered – Green.

Equipment and driver requirements: Well maintained vehicle with low range (or equivalent) and 200mm clearance (recommended)

Meals: Lunch and morning tea will be in the bush. Bring simple 'on the move' lunches and morning teas.

Passengers & non-member participation: If you wish to bring a passenger that is not a partner or your child visit they must register as Temporary Members to join in. See our website for details.

Temporary (Guest) Membership:  Temporary Members are NOT allowed to drive without speaking to the Trip Leader first. This is to ensure that the driver and vehicle are sufficiently prepared for the trip.
