Easy trip around Marysville

Date and time:  9am - about 4pm Sunday 20th September

Trip Standard:  Easy - no formal training required, but some off-road experience would be good. However, your vehicle does need to be set up for 4WD tracksMainly gravel forestry roads but some track will require low range.

IMPORTANT your vehicle requires,

  • 4WD with low range gearing
  • High clearance
  • All Terrain or Mud Terrain tyres only. Normal road tyres are not suitable for this trip
  • UHF radio (or obne borrowed from the club

Aimed at new members, but experienced members welcome.

Description:

This trip meets in the main street at Marysville in the carpark next to the Information Centre at 9am where the trip itinerary and convoy procedures are explained, before airing our tyres down slightly.

Reducing the air pressure in our tyres is optional, but it can make the tracks more comfortable. While not essential for this trip, airing down is a core and necessary activity on the majority of trips.

Then it’s off to the Keppel falls, Taggerty Cascades, Steavenson Falls and Keppel Lookout. Lunch follows either in Marysville or at the Black Spur Inn, where the club is running the training day.

At some stage, we will wind our way back on the easy tracks to/around Narbethong/Black Spur Inn on the main road. Tracks out of M/ville (all high range) would be Paradise Plains Rd, Feiglin Rd and Acheron Way, with possibly a few diversions depending on time. After lunch we will be exploring some local Narbethong 4WD tracks.

Ending the trip at the Black Spur Inn.

Personal Details Form

It is a Club and Four Wheel Drive Victoria policy for participants to fill in a Personal Details Form and leave it with the trip leader. This is essentially, a medical form that can be passed to Emergency Services in cane of an incident.

Please print, complete, and hand the form to the Trip Leader, who will return it at the end of the day, or destroy it. We tend to seal it in an envelope and reuse it on multiple trips.
